WE'RE OFFERING A SERIES OF REGION-SPECIFIC WEBINARS on the treatment of opioid use disorders (OUD) to add to the educational content covered in the online program. Each webinar will provide a case-based review and application of the online content.

The webinars will include:

  • A detailed discussion of the use of medications for OUD;
  • Review of how to manage common clinical challenges; and
  • Live questions and answers session with clinical experts

Faculty from each region will present local data on opioid overdoses and OUD and will highlight region-specific OUD resources available to clinicians and patients.

The Massachusetts Department of Health and Human Services has defined the following regions: Western, Central, MetroWest, Boston, Northeast and Southeast

Target Audience

Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, PAs, and their healthcare teams

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be better able to:

  1. Describe the positive aspects of managing OUD treatment in primary care
  2. Discuss the efficacy and limitations of FDA-approved medications for the treatment of OUD
  3. Articulate the value of an interprofessional team-based approach to OUD management
  4. Overcome hesitancy to treating people with OUD

In support of improving patient care, Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians

Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine designates this Enduring Material for a maximum of 1.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses

Nursing Contact Hours: 1.50 of which 1.50 are eligible for pharmacology credit.

PA: AAPA Category 1 CME

Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1.50 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1.75 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval is valid until December, 2026. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Risk Management and Pain Management Credits

This program meets the criteria of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine for 1.50 hours of risk management study.

American Board of Internal Medicine Maintenance of Certification Part 2 Credit

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.50 MOC points and patient safety MOC credit in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit. Aggregate and de-identified data is shared with the commercial supporters.
